I've looked at other products and still cannot find one that does all that Quicken does.

Over those years it has been frustrating at times. Like many of you I have been a Quicken user for over 25 years. I still assert it's a dinosaur and it leaves me with a bitter feeling about it.
#USING A BACKUP OF MONEYDANCE MAC SOFTWARE#
And nothing they've done has made the software run faster that I can see.Īre there any viable alternatives that I may have overlooked? Are there any companies looking to unseat Quicken and Mint in the personal finance space that might spark life? I still feel like Quicken has potential, but I don't see engineering resources focused on realizing that potential. They say this while also claiming, "We’ve added many new features to Quicken over the past two years." They might have, but I don't use any of them. Quicken promised in its email that they were "excited about our upcoming plans to make the software even better". But, I'd really prefer a far thinner package with more speed. Quicken sent me an email to tell me they are raising prices on subscriptions, and it prompted me to ask myself again: it this aging software really worth it? For that one thing I want, perhaps it is. I even tried the "new" Microsoft Money that runs in Excel, but that will not download transactions from all accounts I have. They just appeared in the ledger and I had to go hunting for anything new. I tried Mint and, while not bad, at the time I tried it I could not review transactions. I've tried to find something better, but I've not found anything. There is one thing - and only one thing - that keeps me as a user: ability to download transactions (even if slow as a dog) with the click of a button and to review them before they go into the ledger.

It's a slow dinosaur that is almost as much of a nuisance as it is an aid. I've been using Quicken for a very long time, but I'm quite frankly unhappy with the software and have been for a while.
